Portrait of a rook on a pink background.

I am surrounded by rooks in the village where I live in Oxfordshire. They are one of the easiest corvid to identify due to their white beaks.

Rooks and crows tend to be associated with death and are considered by some to be an omen, which is why I decided to paint this rook on a bright pink background.. I’m pleased with the contrast between the black and pink, the crow looks very striking.

  • I sign the canvas on the front, at the bottom.
